The Vital Value of a Working Fire Alarm System

The Fire Alarm Panel Heart and Soul of your Fire Alarm System
The fire alarm panel is the center of any fire alarm system, the heart and soul and mind of the system, as it were. The importance of the fire alarm panel cannot be overestimated in your fire protection system, and, in fact, fire alarm panels are required

A working fire alarm system is of tremendous value in a home. Not only does it significantly increase property value, it also serves as a personal bodyguard of sorts, defending you and your home from fire and in some cases burglary, even when you aren't at home. Like a knight in shining armor, the fire alarm system is always ready to come to your rescue when you need it the most.

Most alarm systems consist of smoke detectors or heat sensors connected to a fire alarm control panel. The control panel in turn may or may not be connected to the fire department. In many instances, the burglar alarms share the same control panel, although alarms tripped by the burglar wires are, of course, forwarded to the police station, and not the fire department. Some alarm systems also come equipped with sprinkler systems, which are connected to heat sensors and smoke alarms through the central control panel. Even those homes that are protected by an independent glass-stopper sprinkler system or not protected by a sprinkler system at all frequently have alarm systems of some sort, however, and for good reason. A good fire alarm system costs less than fifteen hundred dollars to install, plus a monthly fee if it's monitored constantly, and the savings in property damage in the event of a fire occurring is enormous.

Combining a burglar alarm and a fire alarm system is the most cost efficient. It also affords the best protection for your property and loved ones, and the effect on property values is not to be underestimated. In almost every case, a fire alarm system will pay for itself, especially when combined with a burglar alarm system. It's easy to think that a fire will never happen to you, and that a fire alarm system is a waste of money, but sadly, that isn't the case. Home fires can be started for a variety of reasons, and if one does occur in your home, believe me, you'll be glad you had an advanced warning system.
